2008 Season Highlights:
The 16U-JR team had an exciting and successful season. Coach
Storm led the team to a 4th place finish (out of 21) at the MN State Qualifier and
a 6th place finish (out of 36) at the MN Summer Jam. Congratulations to Emily Kaus
(Eastview HS, Bemidji State University) and Michelle Tobin (Eden Prairie HS, Winona
State University), who have already made verbal commitments to receive college
basketball scholarships. After memorable trips to Ames, Sioux Falls and Chicago,
this group of "graduating" players will be missed. This was the first
group of girls to come through our program, and they will always hold a special
place in our history.
Once summer hit, our 15U team really got hot. Coach Morris really had this team
playing at their best down the stretch. They were 15U champions at the MN Summer
Jam and followed that up with a 4th place finish in the Elite 15U bracket of the
Nike Summer Showcase in Chicago. To prove they really belonged in the spotlight,
they closed out their season with a 3rd place finish at the North Tartan Meltdown,
where their games were lined with college scouts from all over the country. Next
year this team will be a force to be reckoned with, welcoming back Rachel Hansen
(injured this summer) and adding Kika Greenlee (from the 16U team). Look for them
to be one of the top 16U teams in the Midwest.
In the 14U age division we boasted not one, but two of the top teams in Minnesota.
Coach Livers' 14U Blue team excelled all season long, highlighted by a 3rd place finish
in the Elite 14U bracket of the Nike Summer Showcase in Chicago. Coach Haugen's 14U
Gold team won its share of tournaments as well. After winning the MN State Qualifier,
they became the first team in club history to be awarded the #1 seed for the MN
State Tournament!
